Waties Island Nest Count

Saturday, June 5

Some activity overnight! A false crawl just above the beach entrance between Marker 2 and Marker 3. Not exactly what we were looking for but often times a false crawl one morning leads to a nest the next morning. Fingers crossed!

We were hoping to see that she made another attempt at a different place on the beach, but no such luck. Hope the Sunday team will see some action.

A banded tulip egg casing was spotted on the way up the beach as well as a live knobbed whelk. It was was returned to the water. There were also lots and lots of those animals in the last photo - are they salps? or pieces of cannonball jellies?
