Waties Island Nest Count

Wednesday, May 6th

The morning started out with low hanging gray clouds, we were hoping not to have a wet walk, and were blessed, no rain.  The tide was coming in which makes the walk seem longer., walking in the soft sand gives your legs a workout.  There was lots of trash, the standard; plastic bags, balloons and ribbon, sunglasses, goggles, fishing stuff, and Sharon  picked up a nice Michigan football.  W that e did see the Bald Eagle, but seems to be camera shy, as soon as we got our cameras up for a picture, off he goes.  He was sitting on a post that is sticking up from the dunes, around Marker 3.

There was also a lot of  wrack on the beach, and cannonball jellyfish - but no sign of a crawl sorry to say.  The newest large item on the beach is a portion of a boat, which is getting pounded by the waves.  It is located after Marker 8.
At high tide, there is little beach from after Marker 8 all the way up to the jetty, we may be moving nests this year, time will tell.

Leslie & Sharon
No sunrise today

Looks angry, hoping for no rain

The newest large item on the beach, part of a boat, which is getting pounded by the waves.  I placed large pieces that had broken off close to the dunes, to be picked up at a lower tide day

You see these walking back over the dune
