Wednesday 8/4/21 Nest #2

Our walk was cloudy and cool.  All nests, but Nest #2, were quiet.  Only saw one set of Bob Cat tracks, which we have been seeing, along the high tide line.  No tracks near any of the nests.

Nest #2 showed signs that a Ghost Crab had been into the nest.  We saw egg shell pieces.

We took the cage off and sifted through the sand.

We found 3 egg shells that were at least 50% and 16 small egg shell pieces.   We removed the egg shells to be buried away from the nest so they would not be recorded again.  Nor could they be dug up and cause any confusion.  We left the opening to the nest and replaced the cage to prevent any predictors from digging up the nest before the inventory.
