Some of the nests showed Ghost Crab activity, but none were disturbed. Nest #5R, which has been screened, showed two very small attempts at digging, but none near the nest site. We saw some sargassum grass along the tide line at the upper end, but very little trash. Lots of nats at the waters edge when we were checking the false crawls.
False crawl #8 (below) was at MM3 in the swash line below the horse entrance to the beach. The crawl was 35.5". She went in and right back out.
Below is false crawl #9 which was found after MM4 between N#4 & PN#1. She attempted to nest right after the high tide in very wet, very hard sand. Picture does not show how wet and hard the sand actually was.
Hole was about 12" round at the top and the bottom, and approx 5" deep.
Crawl was 33" wide.
She came in on the right and out on the left.
Both of these crawls were gone by the time we returned from the jetty.
