June 18 Surprises

Cooler this morning after overnight storms. The storms brought our first surprise - a tree across the access road. Leaving the truck in the roadway, we climbed over it and continued on to the beach.

There were no new crawls this morning but we did have a turtle sighting! Not a sea turtle though - a diamondback terrapin that likely got washed out into the ocean with the recent high tides. A healthy looking turtle too. It has been reported to SCDNR on their website https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SCDNRTerrapin

Diamondback terrapin - very pretty

Happiness! Turtle will be happy to be released too.

Turtle was released along the causeway into the marsh where it belongs.

Another surprise finding this morning!

Money!

You never know what you will find out there...
