Today we had some visitors and about 13 very interested and respectful students join us.
Nest 16 was laid on 7/12 an emerged on day 64. The original nest was shallow - 8". This nest was laid below some sea grass, after 64 days the sea grass and roots had spread over and into nest.
Starting to dig into nest with lots of sea grass. Not to far down we did find a live hatchling with a root around his neck.. He was freed and very frisky after that.
We actually dug down 18".
Pictures below - students opening up unhatched eggs. Some looked like they were cooked from the heat of the season.
Best job of the morning!!
Happy Happy
Thanks to all who assisted today with duties and sending all the lovely pictures.
