No additional nest activity again today. The one we have remains quiet. The morning was cloudy and cool. We walked down to the lower end and saw that someone is still trying to dig out the boat. There is no way they are going to get that boat out. They start digging, get just so far, leave, the tide comes in and buries the boat back up. ☺
Waties Island, the northernmost barrier island in South Carolina is roughly 4.0 km in length. It is a private undeveloped barrier island at the border of North/South Carolina. All sea turtle monitoring by this group is authorized by the SCDNR Marine Turtle Conservation Program under Permit MTP500. We strive to help protect the sea turtle, and we are at it again this season! The site will be updated often during the nesting season - May 1st through October.

WEDNESDAY 5/19/2021
Looked like rain coming in as we entered the beach.
A male Mallard Duck walking around on the upper end. He doesn't look injured. Just kinda "lost".
Leslie got a picture of the sun coming up through the clouds, reflecting in the pools on the beach. Great shot for a cloudy grey morning.
On the way back down the beach, we could see that the rain had come in over Cherry Grove. When we got back to the truck, we noticed that it had rained. Glad we walked on the lower end first.
