Waties Island Sea Turtles

Waties Island, the northernmost barrier island in South Carolina is roughly 4.0 km in length. It is a private undeveloped barrier island at the border of North/South Carolina. All sea turtle monitoring by this group is authorized by the SCDNR Marine Turtle Conservation Program under Permit MTP500. We strive to help protect the sea turtle, and we are at it again this season! The site will be updated often during the nesting season - May 1st through October.

Thursday, June 4 - False Crawl #4

Bill and Flossie were out early, they tried to beat the high tide, June 4-5 Full Moon, and another King Tide. Flossie discovered a crawl just above Marker 7, just above the King HTL. The tide was working its way toward the nest quickly. After strenuous probing, they could not find the body pit, there was a large branch in the middle of her turn around/body pit. There are pics with and without the branch. Did she quit because of the branch?

Her crawl size was 36".
