The morning started with a beautiful sunrise, and a busy morning, but no new nests to report. There was a crawl this morning that looked promising. It was so close to Nest #1 that the turtle actually knocked down and crawled over the DNR sign for Nest #1. They probed the potential nest site but weren't able to find a nest chamber. There was a well defined body pit and she was right next to the base of the dune. It really appearts to be a nest, so it has been labeled as a PN (possible nest).
Unfortunately, there were two eggs on the surface of Nest #5 and tomorrow volunteers will be putting a crab trap nearby.
There were several false crawls recently, one on Thursday, one on Friday, and two on Saturday, all of which are probably attributed to the handicap or special needs turtle. There was one more false crawl today with a crawl width similar to the handicapped turtle, could be her again.
