Thursday, July 7, 2022 Nest #14

Hot and humid on the beach this morning, but a big reward for our discomfort - nest # 14 on Waties and the first for the Thursday walkers.

Nice 35” crawl midway between M’s 5 &6.

Very distinctive crawl appears identical to the one found by the Saturday walkers on June 25, with the strange “squiggle” in the middle. What do you think?

                                                                       July 7 crawl

She crawled well beyond the high tide line to the base of the dune. Appears she rested a bit, then two areas were identified as possible body pits.

Resting area in the foreground, first potential body pit with thrown sand up higher mid picture, then second area just lower and to the right in the picture. We began probing in the area of disturbed sand to the right nearest the outgoing crawl. No success, so we moved to the area closer to the incoming crawl, mid picture, and Eureka!  With Paulette’s guidance, Brenda found her first nest!!

Many thanks to substitute Thursday walkers, Lorna and Paulette. You brought us much luck! Can you come every week😉
