Today we found what looks to be a depression just two feet from the sign for PN#3 up at the jetty!!
Barb and Steve found a crawl on Saturday, July 17 that they thought was going to be a nest, but
the eggs could not be located. So, they posted a DNR pole where they thought the eggs should be, and marked it, Possible Nest #3. We would keep an eye on the area in hopes signs of a nest appeared. Today, we found a depression!! It was a round shallow hole where the sand has caved in due to shifting sand where the hatchlings have left the eggs and are moving around under the
sand. Leslie took a cage out and buried it over the depression this afternoon. Now the coyotes cannot get to the nest!! Now we watch and wait-should see hatchling tracks in a few days!! Today was day 48 of incubation.
