Hurricane Dorian is on the way and we
really hope it will stay far off shore. There isn't much we can do to prevent Mother Nature from having her way but we did take a few precautions this morning that might help us find the remaining nests if the storm surge doesn't wash them away.
Yesterday, all the plastic poles, mile marker signs and ghost crab traps were removed from the beach. This morning a set of two wooden stakes were placed well back in the dunes behind each nest so that we will be able to find the nest sites again should the reed be washed away.

We'll see what happens after the storm. Hoping for the best!
